Jeddah Mayoralty has begun developing and expanding a 1.9-kilometre section of Prince Majid Road, with work starting on 18 October 2026 as part of efforts to ease traffic flow across the city.

The targeted stretch runs from the Old Makkah Road intersection to the Al-Falah Road intersection. Once completed, the road will measure 52 metres wide and carry eight lanes in total — four in each direction — significantly increasing its capacity.

Beyond widening the carriageway, the project covers the rehabilitation and reorganisation of the surrounding development zone, upgrades to infrastructure, and improvements to the urban landscape along the corridor.

Why it matters

Prince Majid Road is a key artery for residents moving across Jeddah. The expansion is expected to reduce congestion, improve connectivity between major intersections, and support smoother daily commutes for both residents and expats in the area.

During construction, motorists in the vicinity may encounter temporary adjustments to traffic routing. Saudi Living will share further updates as the project progresses.
