The annual Civil Defense Committee meeting for the city of Jeddah, held for the year 1448 AH, reviewed agency plans to prepare for the rainfall season and to ensure business continuity during emergencies. The gathering brought together relevant bodies to assess readiness ahead of expected weather conditions.
Discussions focused on strengthening coordination between agencies, integrating emergency-response efforts, improving prevention measures, and expanding public-awareness programs. Officials reviewed how different entities can work together to respond swiftly and effectively when severe weather occurs.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense offers an electronic business-continuity service that allows organizations to measure their business-continuity and emergency plans. This tool helps institutions evaluate their readiness and identify gaps before an incident takes place.
Safety Guidance During Rainfall
Saudi Civil Defense urges residents to avoid valleys, flood channels, areas of accumulated water, and flooded roads during periods of rainfall. These locations pose serious risks, and staying clear of them is one of the simplest ways to protect lives and property.
Emergency alerts are issued through the National Early Warning Platform and via cellular broadcast messages sent directly to mobile phones. Residents are encouraged to take these alerts seriously and to follow the instructions provided.
In case of an emergency, the Civil Defense number is 998. For the community in Jeddah, the meeting is a reminder that preparedness is a shared responsibility — between government agencies, businesses, and individuals — to reduce the impact of seasonal rainfall and keep the city running safely.
