A new chapter in Riyadh's urban mobility is taking shape after Remat Al-Riyadh Development Company signed its first alternative-mobility contract with International Modern Industries Company in the capital. The agreement covers the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the first phase of a dedicated network for electric scooters and bicycles.
The planned network stretches roughly 22 kilometres along Olaya Street and Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed bin Jalawi Street, two of the city's busiest corridors. In its first phase, it is set to include around 1,000 electric scooters and electric bicycles.
the vehicles will operate from designated parking locations, allowing riders to pick up and drop off at set points along the route. The service is designed to link short trips with Riyadh's wider public-transport system, giving commuters an easy way to cover the "last mile" between stations and their destinations.
Why it matters
For residents and expats across Riyadh, the network offers a practical new option for getting around busy districts without relying on a car. Connecting these short, flexible journeys to the public-transport network could help ease congestion and make daily commutes smoother, especially in high-traffic areas like Olaya.
No launch date, fares, deposits, operating hours, or booking details have been announced so far. Saudi Living will share further information as the project moves toward operation.
