Saudi Arabia is widening the international spotlight on its women athletes through a growing media partnership that is carrying local competitions to audiences around the world. The push builds on the Saudi Women's Premier League, launched in 2022 to give female football players a professional competition structure.

In 2025, the All Women's Sports Network (AWSN) began broadcasting Saudi Women's Premier League matches internationally, giving the Kingdom's players visibility beyond domestic viewers for the first time. The move connects the league to a global network dedicated solely to women's sport.

In October 2026, Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud joined AWSN as an adviser, a role aimed at supporting wider international exposure for women athletes and strengthening cross-border collaboration in the sector.

Looking ahead, AWSN has announced plans for its first Middle East sports festival in the first quarter of 2027. The event is set to combine competitions, training camps, entertainment, and retail activities, offering athletes and fans a wider platform in the region.

Why it matters

For residents and families across the Kingdom, the expansion means more chances to follow local players on an international stage and more pathways for young women interested in professional sport. As women's participation in athletics continues to grow, broadcasting partnerships help build audiences, sponsorship interest, and long-term career opportunities for female athletes in Saudi Arabia.
