Families across Saudi Arabia are being reminded to complete the school fitness screening for children entering first grade. The Ministry of Health provides the free examination at primary healthcare centers, and it is generally required before enrollment to help determine placement in general or special education.

Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty application. Inside the app, select Appointments → Book an Appointment → Primary Healthcare Center → Family Medicine Clinic, then choose a date and time and confirm. On the day, the child must attend with a guardian, bringing the child’s family ID or residence permit and the original vaccination certificate.

What the screening covers

The examination reviews the child’s medical and family history, verifies vaccinations, and includes a clinical check. It measures height, weight and body mass index (BMI), and assesses eyesight, hearing, speech and articulation, as well as dental and oral health. When follow-up is needed, the child may be referred to the relevant health or education authority.

Results and recommendations are recorded and communicated to support school admission and educational placement. The screening is offered during the enrollment period and continues through the beginning of the following academic year.

For families preparing a child for their first year of school, completing the screening early can ease enrollment and ensure any health needs are identified in good time. No fee applies for the service.
