ADES Resumes All Suspended Saudi Offshore Rigs

ADES Holding has received resumption notices for all of its temporarily suspended offshore rigs in Saudi Arabia, marking a full return to operations for the drilling contractor's local fleet.

The company described the earlier suspensions as temporary, event-driven and short-term, adding that fundamentals in the offshore market remain strong. It noted that contracted jack-up utilization stands at around 90%, while day rates continue to hold firm.

The development follows a period of disruption. In March 2026, ADES said it had suspended operations on 10 rigs across the Gulf region due to regional conflict, describing the interruptions as expected to be temporary. Its rigs in Qatar had already resumed and returned to full operation ahead of the latest Saudi notices.

Earlier reporting for 2026 indicated that ADES expected the offshore restart to begin in January 2026 for one Saudi contract deploying the Admarine 510 rig.

Why it matters

A full resumption of offshore drilling activity supports steady demand across the Kingdom's energy services sector, which employs large numbers of skilled workers and supports a wide network of local suppliers and contractors. Firm day rates and high utilization point to continued momentum in the offshore market, offering stability for companies and workers connected to the industry.
