Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman launched Saudi Arabia's 2026 annual national voluntary blood-donation campaign on 6 October 2026, after personally donating blood at the start of the drive.

The campaign encourages regular voluntary blood donation and reinforces social responsibility, with the broader goal of achieving national self-sufficiency in blood and blood components. It is open to both citizens and residents across the Kingdom.

Donated blood supports patients with cancer, blood disorders, emergency conditions, and other critical medical needs. Voluntary donation carries no SAR fee for donors.

How to take part

Donation arrangements and eligibility screening are carried out through participating Saudi health facilities and blood banks. Residents who wish to donate should check with their nearest participating facility or blood bank for appointment and screening details.

Early figures reported for the 2026 campaign point to strong community engagement: voluntary donations made up 100% of all donations, while new donors accounted for more than 85% of participants — a sign of growing public awareness around the importance of a steady, home-grown blood supply.

For the community in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the campaign is a reminder that a single donation can help save lives in hospitals and emergency departments, and that regular giving helps keep the national blood supply ready for those who need it most.
