The Eastern Region Municipality and the Transport General Authority held a meeting in Dammam on 27 October 2026 to strengthen coordination on transport services across the Eastern Region. The discussions focused on raising the efficiency and quality of transport in the province's cities and governorates.
Both sides reviewed ways to improve operational performance, safety, reliability, and the overall experience for people using transport services. The cooperation is intended to keep pace with ongoing urban development as well as population and economic growth in the region.
Officials also discussed a strategic public-transport plan for cities and governorates in the Eastern Region, a roads strategy extending through 2050, intelligent-transport initiatives, and mobility planning connected to hosting matches for the 2034 World Cup.
Why it matters
For residents and expats in the Eastern Region, the cooperation points toward better-organized and more reliable transport options in the years ahead, from public transport networks to smarter roads. The effort supports the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and رؤية السعودية 2030.
No fees, application steps, validity periods, or individual permits were announced as part of this cooperation, which focuses on long-term planning and coordination between the two bodies.
