Saudi Maritime Congress Spotlights Investment Opportunities

The Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress, held at Jeddah Superdome on 21–22 October 2026, brought the spotlight to a growing wave of investment and trade opportunities across the Kingdom's maritime sector. The two-day gathering focused on maritime integration, port connectivity, international trade, supply-chain reliability, investment, innovation, and public-private partnerships.

Discussions mapped out where the sector is heading, from port infrastructure and logistics zones to shipping services and terminal technology. Emerging areas such as automation, artificial intelligence, decarbonisation, green technologies, and maritime manufacturing were presented as key fields open to investors looking to enter or expand in the Kingdom.

Expanding Global Links

The momentum is already visible in the numbers. New shipping services expanded the Kingdom's maritime connections to 19 global destinations during 2025, strengthening the reliability of trade routes that serve businesses and consumers alike.

Infrastructure is advancing in parallel. The Port of NEOM completed a 900-meter quay wall, deepened its channel to 18.5 meters, and received automated ship-to-shore and electric gantry cranes — upgrades that point toward a more efficient and sustainable generation of Saudi ports.

On the shipping side, a Bahri order for six geared Ultramax dry-bulk carriers was valued at SAR 762 million, with deliveries scheduled in batches during 2028 and 2029, reinforcing the Kingdom's national fleet capacity.

For residents and the wider business community, a stronger maritime and logistics network means more reliable supply chains, broader trade access, and new jobs tied to ports, technology, and manufacturing — all central to the Kingdom's long-term economic goals.
