Saudi Weekly Spending Tops SAR 12bn, Jewelry Up 19.6%

Weekly consumer spending through point-of-sale terminals in Saudi Arabia remained above the SAR 3 billion mark, with the latest available figures showing total weekly spending reaching SAR 12.26 billion in the week ending July 25, 2026.

Spending on jewelry stood out among categories, climbing 19.6% to reach SAR 427.61 million in the week reported on October 30, 2026. However, the number of jewelry transactions slipped slightly by 0.9% during that same reporting week, indicating higher-value purchases

The figures also reflected a broader cooling in overall activity. Total weekly point-of-sale spending had fallen 28.6% from an earlier high of SAR 16.51 billion recorded in October 2026, pointing to notable week-to-week swings in consumer behavior.

Why it matters

Point-of-sale data offers a useful snapshot of how residents and expats across the Kingdom are spending in real time. The sustained spending above SAR 3 billion weekly signals steady retail activity, while the sharp rise in jewelry purchases suggests continued appetite for higher-value goods.

It is worth noting that these numbers refer only to weekly point-of-sale spending and do not represent total national consumer spending, which includes other payment channels. Shoppers in Riyadh, Jeddah and other cities can nonetheless use the trend as a general indicator of market activity during the reporting period.
