Consumer spending across Saudi Arabia through point-of-sale channels reached SAR12.92 billion (about $3.44 billion) during the week ending 19 September 2026,
The total value of point-of-sale transactions declined 6.3% compared with the previous week. The number of transactions also eased 5.4%, settling at roughly 241.1 million during the seven-day period.
Not all categories moved in the same direction. Spending on furniture and home supplies climbed 11.4% to SAR503.8 million, standing out as one of the stronger-performing segments for the week even as overall spending softened.
Why it matters
Weekly point-of-sale figures offer a timely snapshot of how households across the Kingdom are spending, from everyday purchases to bigger-ticket items for the home. For residents and expats in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, movements in categories like furniture can reflect seasonal demand and broader consumer confidence.
It is worth noting that these numbers represent aggregate transaction values rather than the prices of specific products, stores, or venues. They track the total flow of card and digital payments made at retail points across the country during the reporting week.
