Residents across large parts of Saudi Arabia are being urged to take precautions as moderate to heavy thunderstorms are forecast for Monday, 26 October 2026. The unstable weather is expected to affect parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and the Northern Borders.
Forecasters warn the storms may bring torrential runoff, flash floods, hail, active to strong winds, blowing dust and near-zero horizontal visibility. In the capital, light to moderate rain is possible in parts of Riyadh and the Eastern Region, along with the chance of fog.
Alerts by region
A red heavy-rain alert covers parts of Jazan from 12:00 to 20:00. Orange moderate-rain alerts have been issued for parts of Asir from 13:00 to 21:00 and for Makkah from 14:00 to 20:00. In the Northern Borders, the listed warning runs from 13:00 to 21:00. Alert timings vary by governorate.
Authorities advise the public in affected areas to stay away from valleys, flood channels, submerged roads and places where water is accumulating. Motorists should slow down in low visibility and avoid crossing running water.
The warning matters because flash floods can develop quickly in valleys and low-lying areas, catching drivers and pedestrians off guard. Following official guidance and avoiding non-essential travel during the peak hours can help keep families safe.
