Passengers at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah faced some delays and cancellations on 25 October 2026, as the airport continued operating amid disruptions. Travellers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest flight status.
Under the applicable passenger rights regulations, affected travellers are entitled to clear protections. If a flight is cancelled, the airline must offer an alternative flight and explain the passenger's rights to care, support, a refund, and compensation. Passengers may reject the alternative and request a full refund, including any additional fees paid.
Compensation may also apply depending on how late the notice is given. If the airline notifies a passenger within 24 hours of departure, compensation can reach 150% of the remaining ticket value, subject to the regulation.
What delays mean for you
Delays carry their own set of entitlements. If a delay exceeds two hours, passengers may cancel their booking and receive a fee-free refund. If a delay exceeds five hours, travellers may treat the flight as cancelled and claim cancellation compensation. In cases where an aircraft is held on the tarmac for more than three hours, the airline must allow passengers to leave the plane.
Travellers who believe their rights were not respected can submit a complaint to the General Authority of Civil Aviation within 60 days of the incident. Exact fees, flight status, and refund amounts depend on the airline and the specific booking, so keeping all tickets and receipts is essential.
With travel disruptions affecting both residents and visitors, knowing these rights helps passengers in Jeddah and across the Kingdom make informed decisions when plans change.
