Six thousand Saudis and expatriates took part in the Saudi National Day Run held in Historic Jeddah (البلد), turning the district's historic streets into a festive sporting celebration open to runners of all ages and abilities.
The event featured two routes: a 5-kilometer course aimed at professional runners and amateurs, and a 2-kilometer course designed for families and children. The format made the run accessible to seasoned athletes and first-timers alike, with activities suitable for the whole family.
The 2025 edition offered three registration categories: a free 5-kilometer option for participants aged 13 and older, a timed 5-kilometer category for SAR 20, and a family-and-children 2-kilometer category for SAR 20. Registration was available through Njuko, and every participant received a bib number, a timing chip, and a finisher e-certificate.
The run was organized by Masafat Club in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the Sports for All Federation, and the Jeddah Historic District. The collaboration reflects an ongoing push to encourage community fitness and bring large-scale participatory sporting events to Saudi cities.
Staging the event in Al-Balad added a cultural dimension, pairing physical activity with one of Jeddah's most iconic heritage settings. For residents and expatriates in the city, gatherings like this offer an accessible, low-cost way to mark national occasions while staying active and connecting with the wider community.
