Saudi Arabia is expanding and modernizing its sports facilities across several cities as part of a wider push under رؤية السعودية 2030 to host major international competitions, with a mix of new stadiums and upgrades to existing venues.
In جدة, King Abdullah Sports City continues to serve as a leading venue, with a main stadium capacity of more than 62,000 spectators for regional and international events. The city's Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City has recently been redeveloped as part of the Kingdom's broader sports-infrastructure expansion. In الرياض, a comprehensive modernization of King Fahd Sports City is underway to prepare it for future international events.
In الخبر, Aramco Stadium is set to add roughly 47,000 seats. The venue is scheduled for completion in October 2026 and is planned to host matches during the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Looking further ahead, the Kingdom's plan for the FIFA World Cup 2034 involves 15 stadiums spread across الرياض, جدة, الخبر, Abha and نيوم. The plan includes 11 new stadiums alongside four upgraded existing sports cities. Southwest of الرياض, sports developments at القدية are planned to include the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium and a national tennis centre, though construction and opening dates have not yet been established.
For residents and visitors, the expansion points to a growing calendar of top-level sporting events closer to home in the years ahead. At present, admission fees, operating schedules and official ticketing details for these facilities have not been confirmed.
