A sports-development forum held in Jeddah in October 2026 brought together more than 350 specialists and people interested in sports, youth, and administration, calling for closer cooperation between universities and the sports sector.
The forum was organized by the University of Business and Technology in partnership with the Saudi Universities Sports Federation, under the theme “Towards More Distinguished and Sustainable University Sports.”
Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including university sports, sports management, sports media, athlete experiences, sports medicine, and sports culture. Participants also examined ways to identify and develop young talent within educational institutions.
Why it matters
The forum concluded with a clear call for stronger cooperation among universities, educational institutions, sports bodies, and media organizations. Building these links can help channel student energy into structured sporting pathways and support the growth of homegrown talent.
With a focus on sustainability and distinction in university sport, the event reflects a broader push to strengthen the role of higher education in developing athletes and administrators, offering students and young people new opportunities to engage with the sports sector both on and off the field.
