A team of 350 Saudi volunteers is set to provide organizational and operational support for the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, known as Khaleeji 27, which will be hosted in Jeddah. The tournament is scheduled to run from 23 September to 6 October 2026.
The volunteers will cover a wide range of duties across the event. These include spectator services, crowd management, media support, ceremonies, transportation, and stadium operations. They will also handle reception and provide assistance to teams, fans, media personnel, and official guests throughout the competition.
Ahead of their deployment, the volunteers completed specialized training and qualification programs designed to prepare them for the demands of a major regional football tournament. The preparation covered the operational skills needed to deliver a smooth experience for everyone attending.
Why it matters
The Arabian Gulf Cup is one of the region's most anticipated football competitions, and hosting it in Jeddah places the city at the center of a major sporting gathering. The volunteer program reflects the growing role of Saudi youth in supporting large-scale events and gaining hands-on experience in event organization.
For residents and visitors, the involvement of a well-trained volunteer force is a key part of ensuring that spectators, teams, and guests enjoy a well-run and welcoming tournament when the matches begin in the autumn of 2026.
