A new electronic travel service, Absher Travel for Visitors, launched on 26 October 2026 for GCC nationals and other visitors entering Saudi Arabia through land border crossings. The service is accessed through the أبشر application under “Absher Travel for Visitors.”

To use the service, travelers select their nationality, enter a mobile number, choose a passport or national ID, select the border crossing, and enter the expected travel date. Users then register traveler and vehicle details and obtain the required vehicle insurance electronically.

The service is currently reported as available at King Fahd Causeway and Salwa Border Crossing. Each trip must be submitted at least three hours before the scheduled departure time, and the request must be made by the vehicle owner or an authorized driver. The selected travel document must be carried and presented at the border crossing.

Why it matters

The service aims to streamline land-border arrivals by moving traveler, vehicle, and insurance steps online, reducing paperwork at crossings. Registration is optional at launch but will become mandatory six months later, approximately 26 April 2027.

At this stage, no fixed أبشر service fee, vehicle-insurance price, bridge-fee amount, or validity period has been published in the available official details. Travelers planning trips through the covered crossings are advised to complete their registration in advance and keep their chosen travel document on hand.
