Alfaisal University in Riyadh and Saudi Airlines Cargo Company (Saudia Cargo) signed a memorandum of understanding on 26 October 2026 to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence and logistics, bringing academic expertise closer to the needs of the private sector.

Under the agreement, the two sides will carry out joint academic and scientific research in artificial intelligence and logistics. They will also work together to develop university courses aligned with the practical skills the logistics industry requires, helping ensure graduates are prepared for roles in a fast-growing field.

The agreement opens the door for students to gain hands-on experience through short-term internships at Saudia Cargo's headquarters via Tamheer, subject to eligibility, or through cooperative training. In parallel, Saudia Cargo employees will have access to academic and training programs designed to support their professional development.

Why it matters

The partnership also includes specialized activities such as workshops and training on applying artificial intelligence in logistics, alongside conferences, seminars, scientific lectures, and innovation initiatives. These efforts aim to build local expertise in a sector that plays a central role in trade and supply chains.

For students and professionals in Riyadh, the collaboration offers practical pathways into the logistics and technology sectors, linking classroom learning with real-world industry experience. It reflects a wider push to equip the Saudi workforce with advanced skills and to expand the use of artificial intelligence across key industries.
