Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sport has issued a tender for the early works on the King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh, taking a first concrete step toward one of the Kingdom's largest sporting venues. The tender was released on 11 October 2026, with submissions from interested firms due by 19 November 2026.
The early-works package covers enabling works, site preparation, and initial construction activities at the stadium location, which sits next to King Abdulaziz Park in Riyadh. These preliminary stages typically clear the ground for the main build to follow.
Once complete, the stadium is planned to hold around 92,000 seats across a footprint of roughly 660,000 square metres, placing it among the region's marquee venues. Construction is targeted for completion in 2029.
The venue carries significant national weight. It is planned to host the final of the 2034 FIFA World Cup and to serve as the main base for the Saudi national football team, making it a central piece of the country's growing sports infrastructure.
For residents across Riyadh, the project signals more community and entertainment options in the years ahead, along with construction and employment activity around the King Abdulaziz Park area. At this stage, no official tender value, awarded contractor, tender number, or payment details have been publicly confirmed.
