Negotiations over investments in Saudi football clubs are continuing in 2026 at valuations lower than earlier market expectations, as more than 40 local and international investors formally express interest in acquiring stakes in the Kingdom's leading clubs.

In the most advanced deal to date, Kingdom Holding Company agreed to acquire a 70% stake in Al Hilal Club Company from the Public Investment Fund. The transaction was priced at SAR 840 million for the majority stake, implying an equity valuation of SAR 1.2 billion and an enterprise valuation of approximately SAR 1.4 billion.

That final figure came in below earlier reported negotiation expectations of around SAR 2 billion, reflecting a wider trend of more cautious pricing across the sector.

Other clubs in talks

RedBird Capital and its partners have held discussions about a potential 70% acquisition of Al Nassr, with reported indicative terms of around SAR 1 billion. No final agreement had been reached on that deal at the time of reporting, and it remains subject to further negotiation.

Such transactions typically take about eight to ten months to complete and are subject to regulatory approvals and other contractual conditions before they can close.

For football fans and residents across the Kingdom, the move to bring private investors into club ownership signals a new phase for Saudi sports, with the potential to reshape how clubs are managed, funded, and developed in the years ahead.
