Flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam Cancelled or Altered

Several airlines have cancelled or suspended some flights serving Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam due to regional security disruptions, prompting travellers to double-check their bookings before heading to the airport.

Reported suspensions and schedule changes involve a range of carriers, including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, Air Arabia, Qatar Airways, and the Lufthansa Group. End dates differ from one airline to another, with some running between 16 and 19 October 2026. Because timelines vary, passengers should confirm the status of each individual booking directly rather than relying on general announcements.

What your ticket entitles you to

When a flight is cancelled, airlines must offer an alternative flight along with an explanation of your rights to care, support, refund, and compensation. You may either accept the alternative flight or cancel the booking entirely and receive a full refund, including any additional fees you paid.

Compensation depends on how much notice you receive. A cancellation notified between 60 and 14 days before departure entitles you to a refund plus compensation equal to 50% of the unused route value. Between 14 days and 24 hours before departure, that rises to 75%. Within 24 hours of departure, it reaches 150%. There is no universal fixed Saudi Riyal amount; compensation is calculated from the affected unused ticket segment.

Importantly, security-related cancellations may affect compensation eligibility when the cause is outside the airline's control, but rerouting, refund, and applicable care rights may still apply.

If you are affected, contact the airline first through its official booking channel, request a case number, and keep your cancellation notice, booking confirmation, boarding documents, and receipts. If the issue is not resolved, you can file a passenger-rights complaint through the General Authority of Civil Aviation's official complaints channel.
