Riyadh Airport Closed, Flights Cancelled Across Saudi

Air travel to and from Saudi Arabia continues to face significant disruptions, with King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remaining closed following repeated attacks. The closure has been extended at least through 17 October 2026, affecting a growing number of international routes.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam remain open, but both are experiencing intermittent cancellations and operational disruptions. Flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and other Saudi destinations have been impacted.

Which airlines are affected

Several major carriers have adjusted their schedules. Emirates cancelled its Dubai–Riyadh, Dubai–Jeddah, and Dubai–Dammam services on 14–15 October 2026. Etihad cancelled Abu Dhabi–Riyadh flights through 19 October 2026, along with selected Abu Dhabi–Jeddah and Abu Dhabi–Dammam services. Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam.

Among European and US carriers, Lufthansa Group cancelled flights to Riyadh through 16 October 2026, while Air France–KLM extended its Riyadh suspensions through the end of October. Delta has postponed its planned Atlanta–Riyadh service until March 2027.

For residents and expats who rely on these routes for work, family visits, and connections, the disruptions mean careful planning is essential. Travellers are strongly advised to verify their flight status directly with the operating airline and their departure airport before heading to the terminal, as schedules may change at short notice.
