Jeddah Municipality has started a major road-widening project along Prince Majid Road, beginning in 2026, in a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving the flow of vehicles across the city.

The works cover a 1,900-meter section of the road, extending from the intersection with Old Makkah Road to the intersection with Al-Falah Road. Once complete, the road will be widened to 52 meters.

the upgraded stretch will offer four traffic lanes in each direction — a total of eight lanes — significantly boosting the road's capacity.

Why it matters

The project is designed to increase road capacity, improve traffic flow, and reduce congestion during peak hours. It also aims to strengthen connections between Jeddah's neighborhoods and the city's major roads, making daily commutes smoother for residents and businesses alike.

No project cost, completion date, or traffic-diversion plan has been announced at this stage. Saudi Living will share further details as they become available.
