The Ministry of Health is urging parents of children entering first grade to complete the school fitness screening before enrollment, a free service provided through primary healthcare centers via the Family Medicine Clinic.
Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty app in a few steps: log in or create an account, open Appointments, then Book an Appointment, choose a primary healthcare center, select Family Medicine Clinic, and pick a date before confirming.
On the day of the visit, parents should bring the student's family ID card or residence permit along with the original vaccination certificate. The screening covers a review of the child's medical history, verification of vaccinations, a clinical examination, and measurement of height, weight and BMI. It also includes checks on eyesight, hearing, speech and dental health. When follow-up is required, the student is referred to the appropriate authority.
Why It Matters
The screening helps detect health issues early so they can be addressed before a child begins school, giving families peace of mind and ensuring students are ready for the classroom. The appointment period runs from school admission for new first-grade students until the start of the following academic year, giving parents a wide window to complete it.
The program already covers large numbers of students each year. The latest reported figures showed screening completed for approximately 332,931 students during the 1448 AH academic year. Parents are encouraged to book early to avoid delays ahead of enrollment.
