Private investors still have a window to take part in operating two of Jeddah's major sports venues, as opportunities remain available at King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City under the Ministry of Sport's Sports Facilities Investment initiative.

The latest tender covers a three-year operating and management contract for the two Jeddah venues, along with other facilities in the Makkah Region. Earlier project terms described contracts of up to five years and extendable, while the current tender's stated term is three years.

The opportunities on offer span facility operation and management, leasing stadiums to clubs and other organizations outside match days, food and beverage outlets, hospitality, advertising, event hosting, and naming rights. Naming rights, however, do not apply to King Abdullah Sports City Stadium under the current tender.

Why it matters

Opening these venues to private operators aims to keep large sports facilities active beyond match days, creating space for commercial activity, events, and services that benefit residents across Jeddah and the wider Makkah Region. For businesses, it signals continued demand for partners in the Kingdom's growing sports and entertainment sector.

At this stage, confirmed details such as application fees, bid-bond amounts, rental prices, revenue-share percentages, payment schedules, eligibility criteria, submission deadlines, and validity periods have not been publicly specified. The official submission channel for the tender has also not been confirmed. Interested parties should rely on official announcements for the full terms before preparing any bid.
