The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has prepared 166 ambulance teams across the Makkah region as part of its readiness plan for the rainy season, with the largest share allocated to Jeddah ahead of forecast heavy rain.
69 teams have been assigned to Jeddah, 60 to Makkah, and 37 to Taif. The response capability is further supported by six specialized response vehicles ready to handle more complex situations.
The plan includes repositioning teams at valleys, highways, crowded areas, and the locations most likely to generate emergency calls during rainfall. This approach aims to cut response times and reach affected people as quickly as possible.
The authority said its preparations are based on updates from the National Center for Meteorology and guidance from the relevant authorities, allowing teams to adjust their positioning as conditions change.
What residents should know
Residents and visitors in Jeddah and across the Makkah region are reminded to exercise caution during rain, avoid flooded valleys and low-lying roads, and follow official safety instructions. In any medical emergency, the ambulance number in Saudi Arabia is 997, and there is no charge for requesting emergency ambulance service.
