Riyadh Metro & Bus: Fares, Lines and Hours Guide

Riyadh's integrated public transport network is now fully operational, connecting the capital through six metro lines and a citywide bus system that share a single fare structure and a single travel card. The network has been running at full capacity since early 2025 as part of the city's wider smart mobility plans.

The metro comprises six lines — Blue (L1), Red (L2), Orange (L3), Yellow (L4), Green (L5) and Purple (L6) — covering roughly 176 km of track across more than 80 stations. A flat, time-based fare applies across both the metro and Riyadh Bus, with free transfers between lines and modes while a ticket remains valid.

Fares and passes

Standard-class tickets valid on both metro and bus cost SAR 4 for a 2-hour trip, SAR 20 for 3 days, SAR 40 for 7 days, SAR 140 for 30 days and SAR 1,260 for an annual pass. First-class metro tickets are SAR 10 for 2 hours, SAR 350 for 30 days and SAR 3,150 annually. Students can buy a Standard-class 120-day (one-semester) pass for SAR 260, valid four months from activation; first class is not available for students. Children under 6 ride the metro free.

Tickets are sold and managed through the official Darb app, station ticket machines and staffed counters. Payment is accepted by bank cards and mobile wallets. Single bus rides effectively cost SAR 2–4 within the time-based passes.

The metro generally runs from around 05:00 to midnight on most days, extending to 01:00 on Fridays, with a Ramadan timetable stretching service to roughly 02:59 on key nights.

The program forms part of Riyadh's broader smart traffic and mobility projects tied to city-level 2030 plans. Digital dashboards tracking readiness and ridership, updated in 2026, list all six lines as operational and on track — a milestone that gives residents and visitors a reliable, affordable way to move across the capital.
