Saudi Water Authority President Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim carried out an inspection tour on 28 October 2026 of water and energy projects in الرياض and the Eastern Region, reviewing construction progress and operational readiness across several sites.
The projects include water-transmission pipelines running from the Eastern Region to الرياض, along with integrated storage systems in the capital. Once operational, they are expected to add approximately 1.2 million cubic meters to the volume of water allocated to الرياض, strengthening supply for a rapidly growing population.
During the tour, the inspection covered production systems, transmission lines, storage facilities, electrical connections, and related service facilities, in addition to assessing the pace of construction work on site.
Lower energy use
Officials highlighted that national design solutions applied to the الرياض water projects reduced energy consumption by more than 10% compared with consumption levels recorded over the previous four years. The efficiency gains reflect a wider push to deliver essential services with lower environmental and operational costs.
For residents in الرياض and the Eastern Region, the expanded transmission and storage capacity is aimed at securing a more reliable water supply and supporting future demand across homes and businesses in both regions.
