SABIC returned to profitability in the third quarter of 2026, reporting an adjusted net income of SAR 840 million for the three months ending 30 September, a notable turnaround from the adjusted net loss of SAR 380 million recorded in the previous quarter.

Revenue for the period reached SAR 28.17 billion, up 14% compared with the second quarter. Net profit attributable to shareholders came in at approximately SAR 500 million.

The results showed broad improvement across key measures. Adjusted EBITDA rose 40% quarter-on-quarter to SAR 4.75 billion, while adjusted EBIT climbed 434% to SAR 2.17 billion, reflecting stronger operating performance over the three-month period.

Why it matters

As one of the largest companies in the Kingdom, SABIC's performance is closely watched as an indicator of the health of the broader industrial and petrochemical sector. A return to profitability after a quarterly loss points to a strengthening in the business during the second half of the year.

For residents and the wider community, the company's results carry weight beyond the financial markets, given its significant role in employment, manufacturing, and the Kingdom's long-term economic diversification goals.
