Saudi Arabia is scaling up its artificial-intelligence and data-center infrastructure at a rapid pace, with national data-center capacity exceeding 467 megawatts in the first quarter of 2026 — a sharp rise from just 68 megawatts in 2021. Total investment in data centers and digital infrastructure has surpassed SAR 56.2 billion.
A wave of new commitments was announced during LEAP 2026. Al Moammar Information Systems unveiled around SAR 9.38 billion in data-center expansion targeting 192 megawatts of capacity, while NHC Innovation committed roughly SAR 3.30 billion to data centers in Khuzam Digital Valley, with capacity planned to reach 65 megawatts by 2033.
International players are also deepening their presence. AWS plans to invest more than SAR 19.88 billion in a Saudi cloud infrastructure region set to launch in December 2026. Alongside HUMAIN, it aims to provide up to 50 megawatts for the Kingdom's first AI zone by 2028. HUMAIN and DataVolt have begun developing a 100-megawatt first-phase AI data center in Oxagon at NEOM.
On the government side, SDAIA's HEXAGON facility is planned as a Tier IV data center with total capacity of 480 megawatts. Aramco has committed around SAR 5.63 billion to Groq for an AI inference data center built on language-processing-unit chips.
For residents and businesses, the buildout points to faster, more reliable cloud and AI services hosted inside the Kingdom. Expanding local capacity typically means lower latency, stronger data residency, and new job and training opportunities in the technology sector as the digital economy grows.
