Saudi Arabia has approved 19 new hospitality projects under the Hospitality Investment Enablers Program, a move expected to draw around SAR 6.7 billion in investment and create more than 17,000 jobs across the Kingdom.
The projects, backed by 19 participating companies, are set to add more than 3,000 hotel rooms by 2030. They will be developed across five destinations: Al-Baha, Al-Ahsa, Jeddah, Asir, and the Eastern Province. About 40% of the planned rooms are earmarked for coastal destinations, reflecting growing demand for seaside and resort-style stays.
The first projects are expected to begin operating by the end of 2026, with the remaining developments opening progressively through 2029.
Why it matters
The expansion signals continued momentum in the Kingdom's tourism and hospitality sector, offering new job opportunities for residents and expats alike. The added hotel capacity is also expected to broaden accommodation options for both domestic travelers and international visitors, particularly in coastal and regional destinations that have seen rising interest in recent years.
By spreading the projects across multiple regions rather than concentrating them in a single city, the program aims to support balanced tourism growth and strengthen local economies in areas such as Al-Baha, Al-Ahsa, and Asir.
