Saudi Central Bank Governor Ayman M. Al-Sayari said the Kingdom's economy remains resilient, pointing to substantial financial buffers, sound macroeconomic management, and the reforms under رؤية السعودية 2030.
He noted that Saudi banks continue to be well-capitalized and liquid, a position that supports financial stability and allows banks to keep financing economic activity across the country.
Banking indicators for June 2026 underline that strength. The liquidity coverage ratio stood at 170%, while the capital adequacy ratio reached 20.9% and the net stable funding ratio was 114.6% — all comfortably above required thresholds.
About 87.1% of Saudi banks' liabilities were domestic, which reduces the sector's exposure to swings in international capital flows. The governor added that inflation remained contained, and the Saudi riyal's exchange-rate peg continued to support price and monetary stability.
Why it matters
For residents and businesses in الرياض, جدة, and beyond, a stable banking system means steadier access to credit, dependable savings and payments, and predictable prices. The strong capital and liquidity levels also offer a cushion against external shocks, helping protect the day-to-day financial decisions of households and companies alike.
