Saudi Arabia's financial and insurance activities recorded an annual increase of 10.8% in August 2026, signaling continued momentum in one of the Kingdom's key economic sectors.

Despite the strong year-on-year gain, the sector saw a slight monthly dip of 1.0% compared with July 2026, reflecting normal short-term fluctuations in activity.

SADAD payment value within the sector reached SAR 21.3 billion in August 2026. That figure marked a sharp annual rise of 30.8%, while easing marginally by 0.2% month on month. The growth in SADAD payments points to steady demand for digital financial transactions and bill settlements across the market.

Commercial-bank credit extended to the sector stood at SAR 192.5 billion, up 6.3% compared with the same month a year earlier and 0.6% higher than July 2026. The rise in lending indicates ongoing confidence among banks in financing financial and insurance activity.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses in Riyadh, Jeddah and across the Kingdom, growth in the financial and insurance sector reflects a broadening of banking services, insurance coverage and digital payment options.
