Saudi Pro League Pauses for Gulf Cup in Jeddah

The Saudi Pro League will enter a competition break of roughly one month around late September and early October 2026, as Jeddah prepares to host the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup. League fixtures are scheduled to resume from 9 October 2026, giving fans and clubs a clear return date after the international tournament.

The Gulf Cup runs in Jeddah from 23 September to 6 October 2026, with matches staged at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (Al-Inma Stadium) and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium. The break means several league matchweeks have been shifted: Matchweek 8 moves to 9–11 October, Matchweek 9 to 15–17 October, Matchweek 10 to 18–20 October, and Matchweek 11 begins 23 October 2026.

Overall, the 2026–27 SPL calendar sets aside about 80 days for international breaks and national-team commitments. In addition to the shorter Gulf Cup pause, a longer mid-season break is planned from 24 December 2026 to 7 February 2027 to accommodate Saudi Arabia hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

What it means for fans

For supporters in Jeddah, tickets for Gulf Cup and league fixtures at the two stadiums are generally in the range of 50–200 SAR for standard categories, with premium and hospitality seats priced higher. Sales are handled through official online ticketing platforms, with prices set dynamically by match and category.

Entry typically requires a valid digital or printed e-ticket bought via the official portal, along with a national ID or iqama presented at the gate for residents. Fans should also expect standard venue security checks and review the prohibited-items lists published on the event and stadium channels before match day.
