Women and girls across Saudi Arabia have a growing number of ways to take part in sport, as community programs, school leagues, and competitive platforms continue to expand nationwide.

The Saudi Sports for All Federation runs community sports activities and challenges aimed at women and girls, and operates the SFA Domes, a year-round multisport facility in the Eastern Province. These spaces give participants of all ages a place to train and play throughout the year.

On the competitive side, the Saudi Women's Football League supports women's football participation and operates in coordination with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, offering a structured pathway for players who want to compete.

Rising Participation

The numbers point to steady momentum. Women's participation in the Riyadh Marathon rose from 18.7% in 2022 to 25.8% in 2026. At the grassroots level, more than 70,000 girls now take part in school sports leagues.

Much of this growth builds on earlier steps. Physical education for girls was introduced in Saudi public schools in 2017, and women and families gained access to stadiums in 2018. Together, these changes have opened the door to broader participation in both recreational and competitive sport.

For residents and families, the expanding network of facilities, leagues, and events means more accessible opportunities to stay active and get involved in community sport across the Kingdom.
