Saudi Arabia's main stock index closed at its lowest level in more than five years on Monday, 20 October 2026, as selling pressure extended losses across the market.

During the session, the index moved between a low of 9,941 points and a high of 10,116 points. Total trading turnover reached approximately SAR 3.8 billion.
Why it matters
The latest decline deepens the market's losses for the year. Since the start of 2026, the index has fallen roughly 540 points, or about 5.1%.
For residents and expats who hold local shares or invest through portfolios and funds, the drop is a reminder of ongoing volatility in the market. Index movements can affect the value of individual holdings as well as savings tied to equity-linked products.
The index remains a widely watched gauge of sentiment across the Saudi economy. Saudi Living will continue to track developments in the local market and report further updates as they unfold.
