Parts of Saudi Arabia are bracing for unstable weather, with heavy thunderstorms, dust storms, and fog expected across several regions. Residents are urged to take precautions and stay alert to official warnings.

Heavy thunderstorms are forecast in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, and northern parts of the Eastern Province. The storms may bring torrential rain, hail, strong winds, blowing dust, and sharply reduced visibility.

Fog is also expected to form in some areas, particularly parts of the Eastern Province, which can make driving hazardous during early morning and nighttime hours. Red alerts, the highest warning level, cover parts of Al-Baha, Makkah, Asir, and Jazan, while orange alerts are in effect for several other regions. A yellow raised-dust alert is active for the Riyadh Region.

How to stay safe

Authorities advise avoiding valleys, flood channels, and low-lying areas during thunderstorms, as water can rise quickly and without warning. Motorists should slow down, keep a safe distance, and use caution in areas of dust or fog where visibility drops.

For the latest conditions and warnings in your area, follow updates from the National Center for Meteorology and Civil Defense channels. With conditions shifting quickly, it is best to plan trips around the forecast and delay non-essential travel in affected regions until the weather clears.
