Al Nassr Start Title Defense With 3-0 Win

Al Nassr launched the defense of its Saudi Pro League crown with a commanding 3-0 home win over Al Fateh in Riyadh, in the opening round of the 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League this August. The match also marked Ange Postecoglou's first league game in charge of the club.

The Riyadh side, which lifted the title in the 2025-26 season, controlled the fixture from start to finish and kept a clean sheet against the visitors from Al Ahsa in the Eastern Province. The three-goal margin gave the new coach a confident start to his tenure.

Postecoglou, appointed on a two-season contract running through the summer of 2028, will be looking to build on the club's recent success. Foreign stars João Félix and Sadio Mané were among those featuring for Al Nassr in the early weeks of the campaign, while Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from this particular fixture.

Why it matters

The Roshn Saudi League is the top tier of professional football in the Kingdom, sanctioned by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and played in the standard home-and-away format. Every point counts toward the title race, and Al Nassr's opening statement puts the champions immediately at the top end of the table.

For football fans across Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, the new season promises another competitive campaign as the Kingdom's leading clubs chase the 2026-27 crown.
