The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has placed 69 ambulance teams on standby in Jeddah ahead of expected moderate-to-heavy rainfall across the Makkah Region in October 2026, as part of a wider emergency readiness plan.

Across the region, 166 ambulance teams were deployed in total: 69 in Jeddah, 60 in Makkah, and 37 in Taif. Six specialized response vehicles were assigned to support the teams during any weather-related emergencies.

Teams were positioned in strategic locations, including valleys, major highways, busy areas, and rugged terrain, to ensure fast response times where risks are higher during heavy rain.

How to Get Help

Emergency ambulance assistance is available around the clock by calling 997 or through the Asefni application. For Civil Defense emergencies, residents should call 998.

Weather warnings and alert levels are issued through the National Center for Meteorology. During severe-weather alerts, residents are urged to follow Civil Defense instructions, avoid valleys and low-lying areas, and limit non-essential travel until conditions improve.

The precautionary deployment reflects the Kingdom's growing focus on rapid emergency response during seasonal weather events, offering added reassurance to residents and expats living and working in Jeddah and across the Makkah Region.
