Bafaqih Named Jeddah Mayor, Al-Mutlaq Deputy Justice Min
By royal order, Ehsan bin Abbas Bafaqih has been appointed Mayor of Jeddah Governorate (Amin Jeddah) at the "excellent" grade, succeeding Saleh Al-Turki, who held the post from August 2018 to April 2026. In a separate appointment within the same reshuffle of senior government positions, Dr. Mohammed Al-Mutlaq was named Deputy Minister of Justice.
Bafaqih officially assumed his municipal duties in Jeddah shortly after the royal order, meeting with municipal leaders and reviewing priority projects and services across the city.
The new mayor has outlined his top priorities as developing municipal services in Jeddah, expanding fieldwork and on-the-ground follow-up, and improving the quality of life for residents.

Under his tenure, Jeddah Municipality (Amanat Jeddah) continues to serve the community through the Balady platform and its call centres. As Deputy Minister of Justice, Dr. Al-Mutlaq's remit falls within the Ministry of Justice, which oversees the ناجز platform for electronic judicial and notarial services, along with the ongoing digital transformation of court and documentation services nationwide. Both appointments form part of a broader administrative restructuring of senior government and cabinet roles.
