The Cabinet has approved merging the General Authority for Foreign Trade with the Saudi Export Development Authority into a single unified body to be named the General Authority for Foreign Trade and Export.
The merger brings together foreign-trade and export-promotion functions under one organization, aiming to streamline how the Kingdom manages and develops its international trade activity.
the required merger procedures must be completed, with any matters needing regulatory action submitted within 180 days.
The new authority's board will be chaired by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, while the Minister of Commerce will serve as deputy chair.
Why it matters
Consolidating the two entities is intended to create a more integrated approach to supporting exporters and managing foreign-trade policy. For businesses and the wider community, unifying these functions could mean clearer coordination for companies looking to expand into export markets. No new fees, application procedures, service channels, or validity periods were announced with the decision.
