CMA Compensates 20,000 Investors for Trading Losses

Saudi Arabia's Capital Market Authority has compensated more than 20,000 investors who were affected by violations in the shares of Al Kathiri Holding Co. and Anaam International Holding Group, with the payouts deposited directly into eligible bank accounts.

The compensation is linked to a final decision issued on 14 December 2023 by the Appeal Committee for Resolution of Securities Disputes, which required the violators to pay SAR 292.8 million representing illegal gains realized during the violation period.

The funds were distributed through a Compensation Fund set up by the Capital Market Authority. The approved distribution plan was based on the scale of the violations, the size of the illegal gains, and the actual financial losses suffered by investors who traded the two companies' shares during that period. In some cases, individual compensation exceeded SAR 6 million.

Why it matters

The move underscores the growing focus on protecting retail investors and reinforcing confidence in the Saudi market. This action is described as the fourth compensation fund launched in less than a year, following the first fund announced in July 2025.

Eligible investors received their payments directly from the fund into their bank accounts, with no application fee stated for recipients. The Capital Market Authority remains the official channel for this compensation process.
