Private-sector employers in Saudi Arabia are now required to notify job applicants of their interview results — whether accepted or rejected — within 30 days of the interview date. The obligation applies to all establishments subject to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development regulations across the Saudi labour market.
Under the rules, employers must document the outcome for every candidate and keep records of the results. When informing an applicant that they were not selected, the employer must also provide the reasons for rejection, adding a new layer of transparency to the hiring process.
Failure to notify applicants of the interview outcome within the 30-day window is explicitly classified as a violation of approved labour-market regulations. Non-compliance may result in monetary penalties of up to 3,000 ريال سعودي
How applicants can respond
Affected job seekers have the right to submit an official complaint digitally through the ministry's app and other electronic complaint channels if an establishment does not notify them within 30 days or breaches job posting and interview rules.
The 30-day notification requirement forms part of recruitment transparency and fairness controls reinforced for job advertisements and interviews in the private sector during 2025–2026. The controls also require employers to follow clear rules for advertising vacancies and conducting interviews — including providing information on the interview type, date, and a suitable venue, with advance notice to candidates.
The requirement remains in force as of September 2026, with no published extension or reduction of the period. For residents and expats navigating the job market, the rule offers greater clarity and a formal path to recourse when employers fall short.
