Exit and Re-Entry Visa Saudi Arabia: How to Apply

If you are a resident planning to travel outside Saudi Arabia and then return, you will need an exit and re-entry visa (سمة خروج وعودة). This visa lets you leave the Kingdom and come back while keeping your Iqama valid. At سعودي ليفنج, we prepared this straightforward guide to help you understand the two visa types, the fees involved, how validity is calculated, and how to apply step by step through the official channels.

Single vs multiple exit and re-entry visa

There are two options, and choosing the right one depends on how many trips you plan to take:

  • Single exit and re-entry visa: allows one departure and one return during its validity period. It is valid for up to 2 months. The base fee is SAR 200.
  • Multiple exit and re-entry visa: allows repeated departures and returns throughout its validity. It is valid for up to 3 months. The base fee is SAR 500.

If you travel occasionally and expect a single trip, the single visa is more economical. If you travel frequently within a short window, the multiple visa saves you from issuing several separate visas.

Fees and how validity is counted

Fees are set as a base amount plus a cost for each additional month if you need to extend:

  • Single visa: SAR 200 base. Each additional month costs SAR 100 when extended inside the Kingdom, or SAR 200 when extended from outside.
  • Multiple visa: SAR 500 base. Each additional month costs SAR 200 when extended inside the Kingdom, or SAR 400 when extended from outside.

Keep in mind how the system counts time: 1–30 days equals one month and 31–60 days equals two months for fee purposes. Also, the visa validity is calculated up to the Iqama expiry date, and the requested months can never exceed the remaining validity of the Iqama. Finally, once the visa is issued, the fees are non-refundable, so plan your dates carefully before paying.

Conditions you must meet first

Before the visa can be issued, a few requirements must be satisfied:

  • The Iqama must be valid.
  • All traffic violations for the traveller must be paid.
  • There must be no unused prior visa that was never cancelled.
  • The person must not be reported as absent from work and must have no security or travel restrictions.

If any of these apply, resolve them first — otherwise the request will not go through.

How to apply through Absher

Individuals with an active أبشر account can issue the visa directly for themselves or their dependents:

  • Log in to your individual أبشر account.
  • Go to My Services → Passport Services → Exit and Re-Entry Visa Issuance / Visa Requests.
  • Select Create Visa Request.
  • Choose single or multiple visa.
  • Enter your travel and return period.
  • Pay the fee online through SADAD.

Once payment is confirmed, the visa is issued and linked electronically to the traveller's records.

How employers apply through Muqeem

Establishments issuing the visa for their workers use the مقيم portal:

  • Enter the resident's Iqama number.
  • Select Jawazat services → Exit Re-Entry Visa.
  • Choose single or multiple visa.
  • Proceed to payment and issuance.

Extending your visa

If your plans change while you are abroad, a sponsor (whether a citizen or resident) can extend the visa electronically through the أبشر platform using the dedicated extension e-service. Remember that extending from outside the Kingdom costs more and the total period still cannot exceed the Iqama validity.

For the most current fees, processing details, and any recent policy changes, always confirm through the official أبشر and مقيم portals before you travel.
