Expo 2030 Riyadh Signs Deal With Expo 2027 Belgrade

Expo 2030 Riyadh and Expo 2027 Belgrade signed a cooperation agreement in June 2026 to build a structured knowledge-transfer and observer program between the two events. The signing took place in Belgrade during an official visit by the Expo 2030 Riyadh delegation to Serbia, with the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions present.

The agreement sets out a framework for study visits, workshops, expert exchanges, and observer programs. It is designed to support preparations and operational readiness for both expos, including Riyadh's staging of Saudi Arabia's first World Expo.

The two sides identified several areas for cooperation, spanning governance, site development, participant management, operational readiness, digital systems, live event operations, and legacy development. These themes cover the full lifecycle of a World Expo, from early planning through the delivery of the event and the long-term use of its facilities afterward.

Why it matters

For residents in Riyadh and across the Kingdom, the partnership is a further sign that preparations for Expo 2030 are gathering pace. Hosting a World Expo brings large-scale infrastructure, new venues, jobs, and international visitors, and the exchange with Belgrade is aimed at helping organizers deliver a smooth and well-run event.

The focus on legacy development also points to benefits that are meant to outlast the expo itself, with facilities and systems planned for continued use once the event concludes. The cooperation reflects the shared goal of both cities to be fully ready when they open their doors to the world.
