King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre is expanding its virtual-care and alternative-care pathways, with a particular focus on its Jeddah hospital, offering patients more ways to access specialist services without always attending in person.
The expanded pathways include virtual clinic visits, specialist follow-up, referral coordination, digital appointment management, home healthcare, and outpatient treatment. The hospital's clinical electronic-services system also links virtual clinics and telemedicine with partner hospitals.
In 2025, the Jeddah hospital recorded 97,647 virtual clinic visits, a 12.1% increase on the previous year. Referral decision time at the hospital also fell to 21 hours, helping patients reach the right care faster.
Why it matters
For residents and families in Jeddah, virtual care means shorter waits, easier follow-up appointments, and smoother coordination between departments and partner hospitals. Virtual emergency access supports initial assessment, follow-up, specialist coordination, and routing patients to the appropriate care.
Importantly, virtual care is not a substitute for visiting the emergency department in cases of life-threatening symptoms. For urgent or severe conditions, patients should still go to the nearest emergency facility without delay.
