King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree on 17 September 2026 extending the service of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal as Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Emir (Governor) of the Makkah region for an additional four years.
The extension keeps Prince Khaled Al-Faisal in his existing roles and at his current rank. He continues as emir of the Makkah region with ministerial rank and as a royal advisor, with no change to the responsibilities attached to the position.
Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has led the Makkah region across two main periods, from 2007 to 2013 and again from January 2015 to the present. The new decree prolongs the current term for four more years.
Why it matters
The order is an administrative tenure extension only. It does not introduce any new service fees, citizen charges, or changes to e-platform procedures such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ, or توكلنا tied specifically to this decree.
No new validity periods, application steps, or payment requirements for public services are set out in the announcement, which concerns the duration of the position rather than transactional regulations or pricing. As of the decree, there are no publicly reported fee tables or procedural modifications directly linked to the extension. Residents and visitors in the Makkah region will not see changes to how they access government services as a result of this decision.
