Rafha Governorate is strengthening grassroots sport through a network of municipal facilities that serve both competitive athletes and everyday residents. The governorate now operates 15 municipal sports pitches and sports academies supporting team and individual activities, training sessions, and local competitions.

Demand for the facilities has grown steadily. Afternoon and evening booking slots run close to full capacity, especially on weekends, reflecting rising community interest in organised physical activity and structured training.

Officials say the facilities play a wider role beyond exercise. They support talent discovery, help instil discipline and teamwork among young players, and encourage broader community participation in sport across the governorate.

Open-air spaces across the governorate

Beyond the pitches and academies, Rafha offers around 40 parks and gardens for families and fitness enthusiasts. These green spaces include three model walking tracks, pedestrian paths, and dedicated sports tracks spread over more than 1.4 million square metres.

Together, the facilities form part of a growing local infrastructure aimed at improving quality of life, promoting healthier lifestyles, and giving residents accessible places to train, compete, and gather. The expansion aligns with national efforts to widen participation in sport and support emerging talent at the community level.
