The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has readied 166 ambulance teams across the Makkah region as part of preparations for the rainy season, boosting emergency coverage in anticipation of weather-related incidents.

The teams are distributed across the region's main governorates, with 69 ambulance teams in Jeddah, 60 in Makkah, and 37 in Taif. Field operations are backed by six specialized response vehicles equipped to handle demanding situations.

Officials said the positioning of the teams is adjusted including valleys, main roads, crowded districts, and rough terrain. This flexible approach is intended to cut response times during heavy rain and flooding.

How the community can help

Residents are urged to report emergencies by calling 997, the dedicated line for medical emergencies. When placing a call, it is important to pinpoint the location of the incident as accurately as possible so teams can reach the scene quickly.

Motorists are also reminded to give way to ambulances on the road, a simple step that can save lives during critical moments. With the rainy season bringing a higher risk of road accidents and incidents in low-lying areas, the increased deployment aims to keep response capacity close to where it may be needed most.
